Overview

One of the easiest ways to save energy, water and money is to insulate your hot water pipes. Pipe wrap works by making sure the temperature of your water stays as warm as possible as it travels from your hot water heater to your faucet or showerhead. By keeping your water at the desired temperature, you'll use less water and less energy to heat the water, which means lower utility costs. The best part? Installation is fast and simple. Just remember to use caution your hot water pipes will be hot.

Benefits:

  • Keeps water warm while it travels
  • Helps minimize energy and water use
  • Fast and simple installation

A. Measure and cut the pipe wrap.
Starting at your hot water heater, measure the length of pipe wrap insulation needed to cover the accessible hot water pipes. Carefully remove the pipe wrap from the packaging and cut it to the length needed.

B. Place the pipe wrap onto the pipe.
Line up the pipe wrap with the hot water pipe, making sure the seam of the pipe wrap is facing down, touching the pipe. Gently press the pipe wrap onto the pipe—it will naturally wrap around the pipe.

C. Secure the pipe wrap.
Secure the pipe wrap using pipe insulation closure clips. While you can also use duct tape, pipe insulation closure clips ensure tighter seams, a cleaner installation and less chance for heat loss.
